Yeah that choking ting is a problem I must alter every dam line in the database to UTF8 to fix it I think. I have started many times. To make sure I altered it on my local backup and it seemed fine so I was ready to replace the database here. Only to discover that there had been 20 posts in the mean time :(
Meanwhile I will happily take your word for it.
And that bug seems to be what I am experiencing ...

Mooving on the testing with the 3.0.1 kernel (32 bit) and checking if I can remove software (this has been a problem):
Removing Opera in rpmdrake went fine but I got the message to remove kernel-linus-devel-3.0.1-0.1.3mdv-1-1-mdv2011.0.i586 with urpme --auto-orphans.
I am a good boy so I did just that, and got:

Code: Select all

Could not remove:
kernel-devel is needed by (installed) dkms-2.0.19-24.noarch

So the dependencies are not state of the art. (Well it is a test version).

So I went back to the Official Mandriva 2011 with the kernel 2.6.38.7 (64bit) and it worked perfectly fine there. - No message to remove anything with urpme --auto-orphans and Opera just disappeared nicely.

The I went on to remove kppp in the 3.0.1 version since people have had special problems removing it - no problem except that auto-orphan message to remove the kernel.
Went on to the official version and removed it and got a long list of dependencies to remove - and so I did - and all worked well, so I actually saved some space.
Again the dependencies are not up to date on the kernel 3.0.1 test-version.

But I am getting closer to call that pic draging a bug now. I have removed the ~/.kde4 directory and uninstalled and then reinstalled task-kde4.
Same problem. It all works when I hold downthe CTRL-key before I start draging.
I sure hope it will be possible to awake some Mandriva users from the apparent nirvana and get a confirmation one way or the other.
If it is released like this after all those heavy Dolphin discussions, it will be somewhat embarrassing.
But as I said I am not sure that it is not one of my superduper special actions that has caused this..... :-D

Eureka! :B
I should have listen to our Guru berserk when he mentioned Konqueror. It turns out that this happens only if Konqueror is NOT installed +1
Furthermore Konqueror is not a part of the metaqpackage task-kde4 So anybody who reinstalls KDE4 is bound to get this problem.
Man I am good! :-D

And guess what?
The Rosalab TimeFrame organizer works now too :B :s Now this thing begins to look really interesting :!:

Thanks!
Put in other words: Dolphin needs to pull Konqueror as a dependency. Well simply because it will not work correctly without it. And that goes for the Rosalab menu too.
Edot:
Mooving on ....
I have to admit though even if some documents turn up on that TimeFrame menu I do not get what it is for - I am not at all sure that it is working as intended.

Hey! now I get it; this is how it is supposed to work:

At least it works in the MIB kernel 3 version. I have not been so lucky in the official version yet.

Ok I have the Official Official version now and most works as it should. But I cannot get Java to work in FF. It does work in Opera and I have installed the "sun" version....
And me having a 64 bit installation and the sun java being 32 bit I will now remove it and place it with 64bit openjdk.....
And that did not work either :f Rebooting.........
No luck there the oracle java must be in some repo......
Grr I will now just download the Iso and do it all from scratch. It is time to test the installer anyway.
And the installer looks nice and tidy - It is really easy to install Mandriva 2011 (in VB anyway).
I added repos in MCC and updated - no manual selection just click and run.
Then I installed Java (Sun) for x86_64 and everything works! :-D Life is good again
Tip  If you ever need to test your Java just go to http://anfyteam.com if you can see the applet -it works.
Now to flash nothing but 64bit will do of course so I installed it according to viewtopic.php?f=25&t=687
Works like a charm.

Removing the Mandriva Rosa Menu stuff

Postby viking60 » 30 Aug 2011, 19:09

Ok so I have heard a lot of complaints that Mandriva has changed. For the conservative amongst us I will now demonstrate how to loose the Rosa menu bar (RocketBar) and that full screen menu (the one that scrolls :o ). And replace it with the good ol' menu (You know, make it look like nothing has changed which gives us that warm and cuddly feeling).
It is easy just right click on the menu panel at the bottom and remove it! Then right click somewhere on your desktop and add the standard panel.
That is all there is to it! +1
:A

Now I wonder how to implement my good ol' Gnome........

Yes 2010.2 checks out fine here too! But 2011 is fubared until someone convinces me that this is not a rootkit.
I sure hope they make this disappear - pronto!
