Charles Schultz will help Mandriva with the consolidation. He is apparently working with the Document Foundation today and was a part of the team back in the Mandrake days.

I hope it will help but why do they always announce the steps, right before the last person leaving is about to turn out the light?
The most important thing is a good distro though - If that happens people will come back.
What I never could understand why Mandriva was not commercially interesting in the last few years. The potential was there - the only thing lacking was the markets confidence in the stability of Mandriva.

I've been looking forward to this. Hope it is a worthwhile upgrade from 2011.

Regarding Berie Lomax - The Mandriva programers in front:
But I am stuck with 2010 until someone figures out how I can transfer My VB with Windows XP. It is an old sun version an any attempt to upgrade has failed miserably so far...

I'll tell you what it is in 6 digits: 2008.1.
They haven't come close to it.

Re: Mandriva
Gave Bernie PreLomax a spin in my VB and the installation part looks OK:

But picking the Norwegian locale was no success - after a reboot I got errors on that.
Installing American went through - Network would not be correctly configuered though and the GUI does not start on boot.
The display manager failed to start:

So I will have to give those settings a workover.....
went to root and did a
But that does not fire anymore
so you must help me out here people: What is the correct drak-something to adjust the display settings?

Re: Mandriva
Thanks Jim.
Tried it - and no reaction there either
my bash must be fubared - I will reeinstall.
My main problem seems to be that the network config does not go through in my VB - thus Bernie cannot pull the needed libraries...
Näh
I cannot get it to work in VB No Network and no Display setting is working. I will have to wait for another version..
