Yep, and I was disappointed. :(
2010 worked GREAT on my desktop PC, but on the netbook, well, I can't even boot. :(

I'm going to have to put Mint back on, dammit. :(

Stayed up 'til 3:30-4:00 this morning putting 2010 on, on a school night, just to only get so far as tty. It's an X issue. :( I tried drakx11 on all kinds of settings, all kinds of resolutions, looked at xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.log, and nothing worked. It didn't even see that the thing's a netbook, much less do any moblin on it.

There is the option of going straight to 2011, but I can't stand to install off a one cd. I need either a net install, or the full dvd.

As the Norwegian Site admin I was actually informed about this. But I had to promise to shut up until the announcement.
It really is interesting that the trademark is transferred to the community though. The consolidating process will be extremely interesting.....

Yeah, and is also what I'm leary of. They've been down this road before.

No they have not. Mandriva SA has never before been willing to give up control of the distro.

What I meant was that they have been down the road of asking the community pretty much to create the distro. I remember it quite explicitly. I was there at the time.

I am afraid that Mandriva SA is giving the distro to be untangled by community developers and take it back for free.

The community might get screwed and not even the curtsey to a reach around.

Well, what will happen, is Mandriva SA will go down the road again of not communicating with the community, the community won't know what the eff to do, just like the last time. It will turn out as a sh** and spin again.

Well the entire point with leaving the trademark to the community is that the community does the job. Company may or may not contribute - but they will not be able to release Mandriva Linux.

Well, if they're serious that they're not going to be involved, then my brother and I *may* think about helping. We have 3 rules in life:

1) Eat

2) Sleep

3) Code

What Mandriva SA can do is handle the business side, community handles the distro. If they keep it that way, the business will take care of the developers by providing an income for their services. If I am not mistaken that is how it was about 10 years ago and worked pretty well.

I do not mind paying for Linux. There is a lot of hard work that goes into a distro; so I pay for someone to do the work. That is as simple as paying for services. There is nothing wrong with that. I have been a Mandriva member for 10 years and paid every year for the Pro Suite / Power Pack.
