I just purchased this baby for $279.99. Not the absolute greatest, but not the worst by far, for the price.
First on the to-do list: get rid of Windows. Fedora/Arch dual boot.

Amazing what $280 can get you now days. That is a great price . Has only 4GB RAM, can be expanded? I wonder why is that low, now days RAM is so cheap.
I say, if you pay over $500 for a laptop, you are paying too much.

Re: New laptop on the way
The RAM is expandable to 8GB, which is what I wanted, but there was no option to change to that. Maybe next month I can do an upgrade.
Thanks!

I've just noticed, it doesn't have a cd/dvd drive. Shit.

New puters does not have any of that. Is a bummer in a way but with Thumb Drives and Exteral Hard Drives, who needs one? I know, some stuff is easier to get the disk Now days, I hardly use any.

Re: New laptop on the way
I don't use them much any more either; however, I like to have a good hard backup of the OS I'm running, and USB drives aren't really all that secure. I've bought a USB cd/dvd writer for the purpose. $25, I figure I couldn't beat that.
It also doesn't have buttons for the mouse pad, so I got a 2-pack of teeny meeces for $6.99. Now I can play Aquaria.

Re: New laptop on the way
Good call on the USB Burner. The best is, you can still use them on many puters. Got to love mix and matching tech.
Is incredible how tech is so cheap now day. I remember the days of $350 CD Burners +/- types and they were 16X and if you think, today's Currency devaluation, those $350 was a decent amount of cash.
