Russia to ban VPN proxies.

Postby viking60 » 23 Apr 2017, 18:26

Russia plans to ban VPN becase it opens access to sites that they want to block
Russia wants to control the content of the internet in the name of digital rights.

This is always a poor excuse for controlling the Internet - digital rights are not the reason - and it is used all over the world to hide the real reason.
To counter this defiance, the Russian government has been considering legislation to tackle sites, tools and services that provide Internet users with ways to circumvent blockades. According to local news outlet Vedomosti, that has now resulted in a tough new bill.

How long will it take for the NSA to follow?

None, because the FBI, NSA, CIA, Cyber Command, etc are already there.

Will not be surprised that is a measure against an attack from outside Russia.

Do you have any link documenting that Russia wants to ban VPN?

Here's one for you. Sorry I didn't get back on this. From what I read, so far, Russia has blocked nine VPNs. Probably more by now. This was in June:

Quite a few as well have been pulling their servers out.

Here is an explainer from the beeb on it.

This all started in 2017.
I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

I will not use VPNs, in my opinion, they are all compromised. Why I want one that I cannot control? God's know where that server is and what is getting filter through it. To me, if I want to steal your data, I will create a problem and come with a solution. So... the solution is a "VPN" service and make you pay for it.

Let us face it, to stay secure is not to give your info too easy. Make them work, come to you for it.
