Downgraded, it's working, it's blocked from updating, I'm not messing with it any more. Solved.

I am now to the point to where I absolutely have to upgrade it. I need either dump/restore or pg_upgrade instructions, if someone would please.
Edit: Never mind, I did it another way 'round mentioned at the Arch forum, and am running into the exact same problem as what was initially in this thread. Thanks.

Yet I downgrade back down to 8.4.4, put the old /var/lib/postgres back in place, reboot, and it's running fine.

I have just realized that possibly Amarok1 doesn't support postgresql9.x. See here.

Edit: Yes it does! Just went back over the Upgrading postgresql Arch wiki, and found I'd missed a step. Working now with the latest. That page is a bookmarker for sure for me, and that's been done as well.
