I haven't either. :)
No crashes like Oo used to do, nothing. :)

Well, well, well, I clicked up this link on here to find the latest on the pacman/powerpill issue, and:

Image Do you know what happened to the thread, Boss? Is it that merged thread in the pacman section of bbs.archlinux.org?

Yup, it sure is, and wow, what a pandora's box it's become. I find that it's like watching a t.v. show or movie wherein you're watching so intently and intensely, you can't wait to see what happens next, but you have to. Man, I sure wish Xyne had time to work on his next project for this, either that, or do something with pacman, pacman-color, package-query, powerpill, and yaourt for the meantime.. :\

He is working on something. Probably a better replacement.

downloaded a variation of arch today to try out
ctkarchlive.
its a clean little distro that appeals to the openbox user. heres the discription from the page.
CTKArch is a minimalist, Arch-based live CD using the Openbox window manager. It includes a text-based system installer, support for a number of popular file systems, and out-of-the-box support for English and French languages.

After the last kernel update I lost my fbsplash startup graphics. So I dug under the hood and tested every setting. The strange thing was that it was working just fine during shutdown.
After todays kernel update everything is back - so life is good. :cheers
Don't ask me what happened :confused

Yesterdays update was the gnome 3 update. I restarted today and got the messages that gnome 3 started in safe mode of something because my graphic card probably could not handle it.
So if Gnome3 detected that why the update? Playing around with it now - it might have been a coincidence.....
So far Gnome3 is a load of crap here.....
Edit:
And that is because I did not RTFM! To make it work the update alone is not enough! You have to reinstall gnome-shell and since it is not an option on my fusion icon I had to hit ALT+F2 and write

Code: Select all

gnome-shell --replace
to make it work.
Ok starting to play with it again - it looks much better now...

Well, I tore the crap out of it; probably might as well have reinstalled, but I finally got KDE working, and *possibly* notification-daemon. We'll see on that one. At least I have sound now. :P

Reservedly, yes, at least. Still have to confirm notification-daemon and system sounds, but the rest *seems* to be working, yes. Speaker tests in both Gnome and KDE work - they hadn't done that in AGES.

Wow really heavy duty update today! Gnome-shell too so I guess I will have to tweak the icon size again :)
