Well Arch really outclasses Fedora on the repos IMO. To find the 8 best repos and sort them by speed just follow this:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5&start=24
And to find a graphical frontend for pacman you could install gtkpacman. This will give you excellent GUI overview, also yaourt is good for finding software.
What happened to the CLI purist in you? I never was one, and it turns out you are even less one, than I
Arch will take some time in setting up and after that it will blow anything else away. Fedora13 is easier to set up tho.. no argument there.
I will try to post a pic. of gtkpacman shortly I think that will help you a lot.
Edit and here we are. You can search compare versions etc etc. I would stick to the CLI for removing and installing but this is nice for searching and finding. Install it with yaourt gtkpacman and pick 1:

Think I'll do that, thanks. Yeah, I am a CLI purist, but then there are also commands in most CLI "scripts" as it were, to search and find, and to find out what you're searching for. Not in Arch though. No matter what way you go, you have to know exactly what you're looking for. If I knew that, I wouldn't be searching LOL.

Note I did qualify sound quality. I said "with pulseaudio" it's nowhere near as good. Without it, it's the best thing since sliced bread. LOL

Speaking of which, do you know what they've done with padevchooser? Can't find it anywhere in the repos (not even yaourt).

Oh crap, I was looking for "padevchooser". See what I mean about package names? Thanks!

Yes I see what you mean :D But you see that it kind of works with yaourt too.

I just removed pacupdate due to the fact that it did not find any updates even if there were some.
This as been an unfixed bug for a while, so it does not deserve a spot on my box anymore.
And then I installed pacman-notifier - et voila  Everything works! the update messages are shown as they are supposed to and you can install the updates directly. It simply does what pacupdate was supposed to do.

You will find pacman-notifier in AUR (use yaourt).

BTW what is wrong with this Windows?
