Re: Arch Linux
As an addendum too, this is the only single thing I get this on, is when I'm installing via yaourt. Everything else is fine - type in root password, and away I go.

Re: Arch Linux
Hm this is strange. There is no sudo group so I wonder how you managed that. My suspicion is that you have managed to make some settings in sudo or for sudo in yoaurt. And that leads to the password error.

Re: Arch Linux
Ah, sorry, I was thinking of sudoers, and that's even if I did that -
Would have used gpasswd on installation: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg ... tup_groups and http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg ... ptional.29

Re: Arch Linux
Now I am confused! Did you or did you not set up sudo? The group traditionally used is wheel. But that does not matter if you follow the example in the Tips and Tricks section. So again; what exactly were you thinking regarding sudoers?

Re: Arch Linux
Was thinking that upon installation, I had used gpasswd for sudoers. I know I did not do the second link that I just posted, nor did I do what's in Tips & Tricks (I use the installation manual all the way down on installation, have almost memorized the whole thing, and do what's in it).
So, since I didn't do that part, I'm thinking I may not be added to sudoers, except in the way of gpasswd if that gets me anywhere with it.
If not, I'm just as glad. I know I'm in the wheel group anyway.
Let me use gpasswd and see what all groups it has me listed in.

Re: Arch Linux
I also do not have visudo installed, but sudo is.
However, I don't think that has anything to do with it.
Again, all this worked up til updates that came along before this last batch of them, it requires the root password, which it's given, the only time it happens is with yaourt, and whether one's user is a member of "sudoers" or not, should be working.
Commented and voted for Bug #20721.

Re: Arch Linux
Well no. And the gpasswd has nothing to do with sudo at all. It is where you add users and groups. So I am going to estimate that you have done nothing with the sudoers file. Please confirm!
In that case it has nothing to do with sudo at all.

Re: Arch Linux
I didn't do anything via visudo, I know that. But as I said, that's not the problem. It was working without having to put it in so many times - the first prompt that should come up is "You are not allowed to launch /usr/bin/pacman with sudo
Please enter root password"
And then, we put it in, and away we go. But, it's all of a sudden not doing that.

Re: Arch Linux
Ok you did not do anything with visudo and you did not try to edit the sudoers file manually? I mean the message is there for us to read! So it is the sensible thing to explore the obvious first.
The fix is probably to add yourself to the sudoers file now anyway. That is my suggestion for a solution.

Re: Arch Linux
Wondering if there's a version of the amazonmp3 downloader for Arch? Thanks.
Actually, there is in yaourt, but it's showing it as out of date, and I'm wondering how well it worked in the first place - any clue?
Also if it matters that it's out of date?

Re: Arch Linux
I have noticed that the dependencies can be broken when updating. So I had to remove xdockbar on the last update. The update gives a warning.
It can happen with the aur stuff. There will be an updated version soon after the update I guess, but it is no good idea to install the out of date stuff.
Anyway it is not Friday anymore so you should put yourself in the sudoers file now
